The Thyrogen shots probably were a better choice but I did have some side effects. I had some nausea and almost diarrhea. I also felt sort of confused and a little out of it for a couple of hours.
These could have been caused by anxiety over worry of how I would react to the shots. The cost of the shots is very expensive too. I’m struggling with my doctor’s insistence in making me withdraw from my levothyroxine to prepare for RAI as opposed to Thyrogen shots. I had RAI (66 I am having Thyrogen injections to stimulate things and see if my Thyroglobulin level increases with a higher TSH level.

Basically she felt that Thyrogen would not be a bad choice for me, but she felt that withdrawal would be somewhat better. I had a tumor with Hurthle Cell Carcinoma removed, and since HCC tends to be non-avid, the plan for me is to go in aggressively off the bat because we want a "one and done" RAI.
